Tenugui have been used in Japan since the Edo period for everything from drying hands to wrapping bento boxes. They are deliberately left with raw edges, which dry faster and fray slightly into a soft fringe over time. Ours are dyed with the chusen method, which pushes dye through the cloth so the pattern is identical on both sides.
Choose the seigaiha wave, the asanoha hemp leaf or a plain indigo. Each measures 35 × 90 cm.
